The Lady Rebels fell short to the Lumberjacks 62-84.

The Lumberjacks had offensive intensity from the moment of the tip-off, going on a 12-5  run to open the first quarter. 

The Lady Rebels could not find a flaw in the Lumberjack’s defense to score and turned the ball over in the first four minutes of the ball game. 

Defensively, the Lady Rebels played in a man-to-man zone. The Lumberjacks focused on attacking the paint, but the Lady Rebels struggled to keep them from driving the ball in for an easy layup. 

The Lumberjacks went on another 11-7 run, 15-23, with a minute and a half left in the first quarter. The first quarter ended 17-29.

Freshman Alyssa Brown started the Lady Rebels offense with a putback layup to begin the second quarter. 

The Lady Rebels offense started to get their rhythm going on a 10-0 run to cut the lead by two points, 27-29 with five minutes left to play in the first half. 

The Lady Rebels switched up their defensive zone pressing full court in a 3-2 zone, but that didn’t stop the Lumberjack’s offense. The first half ended with the Lady Rebels trailing 29-42.

Desi-Rae Young opened the third quarter with a layup for the Lady Rebels. 

The Lumberjacks outscored the Lady Rebels 23 points to 15 points in the third quarter ending with the Lady Rebels trailing by 21 points, 44-65, at the end of the third quarter. 

The Lumberjacks continued to attack the paint and the Lady Rebels defensively could not stop them in the final quarter.

The Lady Rebels couldn’t find the bottom of the net, shooting 34 percent from the field and 22 percent from 3-point range.

Nneka Obiazor had a season-high and led the Lady Rebels with 13 points while Essence Booker had 11 points and Young had 10 points.

The Lady Rebels will be back home at the Cox Pavilion to face Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Nov. 20 at 12 p.m.
