Mahomes Magic Is Back: Chiefs Regain AFC West Lead With A 41-14 Win
Patrick Mahomes with his best performance of the season comes on a Sunday night in Sin City, 406 yards, 5 Touchdowns and a huge win.

The Las Vegas Raiders welcomed in their bitter rival the Kansas City Chiefs to Allegiant Stadium on Sunday night, the defending AFC champions marched to a 41-14 victory over the silver and black. Leaving the Raiders at a record of 5-4 and Kansas City back up to a winning record of 6-4 after a well documented first half of the season struggle.

Patrick Mahomes first touchdown of five, would come from a possession where the Chiefs would go 3/3 on third down. Keeping the drive alive, resulted into a Mahomes to Tyreek Hill touchdown pass from just eight yards out.

After back to back failed Raider drives, a fumble forced on a punt, by the punter AJ Cole, saw the Raiders recovering it with great field position right at the 50-yard line.

Las Vegas would tie the game up early in the second quarter as Derek Carr found Hunter Renfrow in the back of the end-zone. The play was generated off of a pass interference call that kept the Raiders on the field.

Kansas City would see some of the classic Mahomes to Travis Kelce magic in response but Las Vegas was able to keep the duo out of the end-zone. Harrison Butker drilled a field goal to make 10-7.

After a very short Raiders drive that ended in a sack of Derek Carr. Mahomes would drive the Chiefs down into the red-zone, where they would convert a 4th down and 1 from the 3-yard line and then on two plays later, Mahomes would find Hill for their second connection of the game.

The Raiders once again on their third possession of the second quarter could not get anything going. The Chiefs would try to extend their lead with a Butker field goal but he missed it wide left, bringing the game to halftime with a 17-7 Chief lead.

The Raiders opened up the second half with a Carr strike to Bryan Edwards for his first of the year. For a brief moment it had felt as if the Raiders would storm back into this game, yet this would be the final points scored from the Raiders offense.

On a 4th down and goal from the 1-yard line the Chiefs would go for it and convert on a Mahomes touchdown pass to Noah Gray, bringing their lead back to 10.

Looking to keep the game within reach, Carr would find his newly signed wide receiver Desean Jackson deep down the field, Jackson would fumble the ball and Kansas City would turn it into three points at the other end.

Ending the third quarter was a Carr heave that would be intercepted by Daniel Sorensen and the Chiefs would hold onto a 27-14 lead.

The fourth quarter is really when things started to get out of hand for the Raiders. Patrick Mahomes would tap into his magic that he has not really played around with since a week 1 win against Cleveland. Mahomes would throw his fourth touchdown of the night on a highlight reel play that would end up in the hands of Darrel Williams.

Carr and the Raiders offense would never find any sort of success in the fourth quarter. Mahomes on the other hand, tossed his fifth touchdown pass on the night in a statement type of an outing.

Heading into this game the Chiefs ranked 26th in total defense, leaving this game with a massive victory in hand the Chiefs defense looked seemingly unbearable only allowing 14 points. Las Vegas had no answer for a rejuvenated Chiefs front and could not get out of their own way to the tune of nine penalties.

The AFC West is an open book of sorts, an open highway one would say but the Chief’s are a bright red Maserati and they just dropped a gear leaving the Raiders behind them.

Las Vegas will host the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday at home at 1:05PM.
