Rebels Hold On to Defeat the Pacific Tigers for Second Game in a Row Lucas Peltier Rylan Charles slides into the home base to tie the game 2-2.

The UNLV baseball team came together to complete a 3-2 win over the Pacific Tigers, as they scored the winning runs in the seventh inning Friday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. This victory extended the Rebels’ winning streak to a season-best five games.

These last four wins have left the fans on the edge of their seats, as the team rallied late in each game to steal victory from their opponents.

UNLV was first on the scoreboard Friday in the third inning, getting a two-out RBI single from Jack-Thomas Wold, off of Pacific starter Hayden Pearce. They held onto the lead until the fifth when the Tigers pushed ahead with a pair of runs off three straight singles and a double play.

The Rebels drew even in the sixth off a two-out RBI single from Jordan Andrade and reclaimed the lead an inning later, thanks to a one-out RBI single from Austin Kryszczuk, who finished the game with three hits.

The Tigers found themselves with the potential game-tying run during the ninth, after Ben Nemivant got to third base. With two outs, Bryce Kirk stepped up to bat and swung at the first pitch he saw from Rebel Ty Pohlmann, hitting it right into Rylan Charles' glove, as he dove into third.

"It’s always nice to have the other team chasing you instead of chasing them,” Head Coach Stan Stotle said. “We hope to sweep them. We try to win every game, and they’re a tough opponent, and we know we’re going to have to play well to do that.”

UNLV and Pacific return to Wilson Stadium Saturday morning to finish the three-game series. The first pitch is scheduled for 11:05 am.
