UNLV WOMEN'S SOCCER SEASON ENDS IN A HEARTBREAKING LOSS

The Rebels got their season cut short in a devastating 1-0 loss against rivalry UNR. With this loss against Reno, the UNLV Women’s Soccer team will not make it into the battle of the Mountain West Tournament. This has not been for the team since 2016. 

Entering the highly anticipated battle game, the Rebels held the sixth spot in the league standings. They had to win or tie in order to move on in the postseason. UNR entered on the other side already eliminated from contention of the conference. Throughout the game both teams exchanged commanding presence on the field. However, only with five minutes left of the game, the Wolfpack spoiled the Rebels with a goal winning 1-0. This is the second straight time they have lost to UNR.

Even though they lost, UNLV had an impressive game and season to look back on. The Rebels out shot their opponent in eight of the 11 games, including 8(4 SOG)-6(4 SOG) over Reno Thursday. UNLV finished the season 12-8 overall and 5-6 in league play.

UNLV MEN'S SOCCER TEAM START WEEKEND WITH A 2-1 LOSS AGAINST INCARNATE WORD

Despite a first half dominance by UNLV they were unable to maintain the lead and suffered a 2-1 loss. 

Senior Forward Aeedon Kyra was able to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead within the 31st minute. With impeccable goalkeeping from junior goalkeeper Miguel Duenas, Jr. they were able to withhold Incarnate Word. Miguel with a total of three saves in the first half supported by a great defense, UNLV was feeling good heading into the break.

The Rebels were unable to maintain it as Incarnate Word came back with fight in their eyes. The Cardinals were able to tie up the game with a 60th minute shot by Miguel Duenas, Jr. Despite both teams having seven shots in the second half, the Cardinals had the better luck when gaining the lead in the 86th minute.

UNLV MEN’S END STRONG WITH A 2-1 WIN OVER UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY

The Rebels were able to end the weekend strong with a 2-1 win over UTRGV.

UNLV started the same game strongly with a shot early on in the 13th minute by senior Aeedon Kyra. This now made him his eighth score this year. With more incredible goalkeeping by Miguel Duenas,Jr making 4 saves in the first half to shut them out. 

UTRGV was able to push back by tying up the game within the first 15 minutes of the game. Once it was tied up both teams were pushing back and forth trying to give each other the team. With Miguel making 7 saves in total for the game and a 82nd minute game winning goal from junior Chilo Sanchez, UNLV was able to end their weekend on a high. With UNLV's win they are now (7-10, 3-7) with a four-game skid entering the contest.

UNLV will hold their next match on Saturday at 7pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Rebels will be facing Dixie State as there regular season finale. In which is will also be the teams Senior Day.
