Despite the strong defensive effort, UNLV did not walk away from Sam Boyd Stadium with a victory. The Rainbow Warriors managed to leave with a 21-7 win and the winning souvenir of the Golden Pineapple.

Kenyon Oblad had 118 passing yards and only 10/22 of his passes were complete. Chad Magyar led the team in rushing yards against Hawaii with 65 yards. Darren Woods Jr. had 63 yards, leading in receiving.

UNLV's defense managed to contain a strong, full-forced, Hawaii offense, not allowing the Rainbow Warriors any chances to score in the first quarter, and only allowing Hawaii one touchdown in the first half. UNLV managed to score early on in the first quarter, a pass from Oblad to Woods for a 31 yard touchdown.

Hawaii scored their first touchdown right before halftime, a 1 yard run by quarterback, Cole McDonald. Hawaii turned on a killer defense in the second half, pressuring UNLV offense and Oblad. Oblad threw an interception resulting in a pick 6 by Cortez Davis, who returned it 43 yards. Hawaii scored their final touchdown in the fourth quarter, once again, a rushing 2 yard touchdown by quarterback, McDonald. UNLV was unable to score again despite their efforts.

Rebel defense worked hard to contain the Hawaii offense. UNLV head coach, Tony Sanchez, stated after the game, "I thought the defensive effort was absolutely outstanding."

Rebel offense, though, struggled in their attempts to score in the second half, leading to their eventual loss. Kenyon Oblad threw 2 interceptions in dire situations, one resulting in a Hawaii touchdown. Oblad stepped in as the leader of this offense, but he is struggling in his starting quarterback position this season. UNLV will host San Jose State on November 23rd, their final home game of the season and final game at Sam Boyd Stadium. Their offense needs to show up strong this weekend in order to beat the Spartans.
